“Audio Equipment Bag”
“Inside our Audio Equipment Bag” We have 12 RCA Audio Recorders and external mics. In theory a spirit/ghost may communicate with you through Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP). EVP is picked up using an audio recording device. You cannot hear EVPs while they are happening. When you play the audio recording back, you will be able to hear them.
12 – RCA VR5220 512 MB Digital Voice Recorder
THEORY: In theory a spirit/ghost may communicate with you through electronic voice phenomenon (EVP). EVP is picked up through an audio recording device. You cannot hear EVPs while they are happening. When you play the audio recording back, you will be able to hear them.
HOW TO USE: The first thing you need to do is turn on the device and set up a pre-wrap by saying your name, date, time, and location. While investigating ask EVP questions leaving a 20 to 30 second gap between each question. Make sure your recorder is on and recording the entire duration of the investigation so we don’t miss anything. Slide the hold switch to ensure you don’t pause the recorder by mistake. When the investigation is complete, do a post wrap on the recorder re-stating the time, date, and indicate that the investigation is complete. You will need to put the hold switch back to its original position to stop the recording.
RANGE: The range at which the recorder can pick up sounds is unknown.
READINGS: While analyzing the recording you are looking for voices that were not present during the time of recording. You want to see if any of the questions you’ve asked were answered. You may also look for any unusual sounds, such as tapping/knocking, bells ringing, doors slamming, music playing etc. A digital audio recorder is much more sufficient than an audio cassette recorder because the digital recorder can record longer than a tape, it is more clearer than a tape, and has more functions than a tape recorder has to offer. Digital audio files are easier to download into a computer and analyze using programs such as Audacity, Cool Edit, Windows Media Player, etc. The digtal audio file is more convenient than a bunch of audiocassette tapes lying around. Make sure you listen to the entire recording, paying close attention from start to finish. You don’t want to miss anything.

(4) Primos Truth Cam 35 Camera – Day/night 35-infrared LED
- Trail Camera captures still or video images of wildlife
- 40-foot nighttime range; select the number of active LEDs (more night range or battery life)
- 1.5-second trigger speed out of sleep; 0.3-second trigger speed when active; multi-shot bursts of 1, 3 or 5 images per triggering Large backlit LED screen; instructions printed on camera door
- Supports up to an eight gigabyte SD card; one-year warranty
THEORY: A motion sensor will pick up any kind of movement that passes in front of the sensor. In theory, after a spirit/ghost has manifested and is moving around, it may pass in front of a motion sensor causing the unit to take a photograph.
HOW WE USE IT: The first thing you want to do is make sure there are batteries in the device along with a memory card. Then mount the device in place to where it will be set for the night. Then turn the device on by selecting either photo or video. Set the time and date. Once you are finished the camera will start a 15 second countdown, and then the camera is ready to use. The camera will automatically set to take daytime or nighttime shots according to the amount of light in the area. The camera has infrared (IR) capability. The camera has a 2 second delay between photos, and a 15 second delay for video. If you choose the video setting it will record up to 30 seconds per video.
RANGE: The range of the sensor to the active field is 0 to 40 feet. The sensor will detect movement from a 45o angle.
READINGS: When analyzing the photographs you are looking for any type of anomalies in the photos that cannot be explained. When using a digital camera there will be many times that you get orbs in your photos. Because the digital camera is a higher quality than the 35mm camera, it will pick up more objects in the air such as water vapor and dust particles. Some of the things you are looking for when analyzing photographs are: orbs, mists, streaks, apparitions, etc.

DVR stands for Digital Video Recorder. Our DVR system has a 500-gigabyte hard drive, with 8 Infrared (IR) Cameras. The range of the cameras is 0 – 50 feet. Some of the features on our DVR system are that you’re able to record 8 cameras simultaneously. You’re able to view one camera at a time or in a 4 or 8-way split screen. You’re able to either speed up or slow down the recording for better analysis. You’re able to burn a segment of the footage that you have recorded.
The objective of the DVR System is to try and capture paranormal activity, such as a ghost or an apparition on video. By using the DVR system, this enhances your chance of capturing something on video because you can use up to 4 cameras, at different locations, at a time.
Full Spectrum Digital Camera
The Full Spectrum Camera that we use is a Nikon Coolpix L620 converted to Full Spectrum.
FACT: The light we see is known as “white light”. It’s really a combination of all visible colors of the spectrum. “Visible” being the key word. The total light spectrum is much larger than what we see. In fact visible light is only a tiny fraction of the entire spectrum. Visible light is part of what is know as the Electromagnetic Spectrum. The spectrum starts with longer wave/lower frequency light on the left side which includes the infra red lights, radar, FM/AM and television signals followed by the narrow section of humanly with the naked eye visible light, through to the shorter wave/higher frequency ultra violet lights, X-Rays and Gamma Rays on the right end of the spectrum, Yes, radio, television and radiation are all part of the same electromagnetic spectrum as visible light (they are all forms of light, but we can’t see it with the naked eye).
THEORY: When a ghost/spirit manifests, it may appear in the light spectrum that we are unable to see with our naked eye. When using a Full Spectrum Digital Camera, this covers all spectrums of light being able to see the apparition that we are unable to see with the naked eye.
HOW WE USE IT: The Full Spectrum Digital Camera has a much higher quality than a Full Spectrum 35mm Camera. Depending on which Full Spectrum Digital Camera you use there are many different settings on it. We use the finest setting for taking pictures, which is the highest quality. While in the field take random pictures of an area, making sure you point the camera away from you. You don’t want to capture your breath in the picture, because it may look like a mist. Besides taking pictures of just random areas you also want to take pictures when asking EVP questions, or if there is any activity on any of the equipment.
RANGE: The range of the digital camera varies depending on what type of camera you are using.
READINGS: When analyzing the photographs you are looking for any type of anomalies in the photos that cannot be explained. When using a Full Spectrum Digital Camera there will be many times that you get orbs in your photos. Because the Full Spectrum Digital Camera is a higher quality than the Full Spectrum 35mm Camera, it will pick up more objects in the air such as water vapor and dust particles, etc, which can be mistaken for orbs. Some of the things you are looking for when analyzing photographs are: orbs, mists, streaks, apparitions, etc.
(3) P-SB7 Spirit Boxes ITC Research Device New 2011 Model
- The P-SB7 utilizes a milli-second adjustable Forward or Reverse frequency “sweep” technique
- It is also coupled with a proprietary high frequency synthetic noise or “white noise” distributed between frequency steps
- FM frequency sweep which includes an additional 119 new frequencies from 76MHz to 87.9MHz
THEORY: When a ghost/spirit is trying to communicate with you, it may do so by using different radio frequencies, for real time communication.
HOW WE USE IT: Turn on the device by holding the power button for 3 seconds. You can use the antenna for better communication. Choose either an AM or FM frequency. Whichever one you decide to use, make sure that you log that frequency down in the field report. Then choose the sweep rate of 300 ms (milliseconds). The sweep rate is the speed that the device will scan through each frequency. Then choose sweep forward, and hold that button down for 3 seconds. At this point the device should start scanning. Make sure the volume control is loud enough to hear. (If the device is not loud enough then you can add external speakers.) Once the device is set up start recording the session with a digital audio recorder. Set up a pre-wrap with the digital recorder saying the time date and location, as well as an opening protection prayer. In the opening protection prayer you should say “please protect me from any negative spirits out there, and only allow the positive spirits to come through.” You should only do 3-minute to 5-minute sessions at a time. At the end of each session, you need to do a close out prayer. In the close out prayer you should say “whatever spirits that have come through this device must go back from where they came from and are not allowed to follow us home.” You may also say the prayer of St. Michael as well. Once you are done with your closing prayer turn the device off by holding the power button down for 3 seconds. Once the device is powered down, the final step is to do a post wrap in your digital audio recorder.
RANGE: The scan range for AM frequencies is 530 kHz to 1710 kHz. The sweep rate range for AM frequencies is 200 milliseconds to 500 milliseconds.
The scan range for FM frequencies is 76 MHz to 108 MHz. The sweep rate range for FM frequencies is 100 milliseconds to 350 milliseconds.
READINGS: When analyzing your recordings you need to be extremely careful that you do not mistake normal radio broadcasts for spirit communication. Always have a second opinion on what you may have found before you put the analysis in a final field report. Make sure while analyzing your data that you understand what matrixing is. If you do happen to record something that is paranormal it is called RVP, Radio Voice Phenomenon, which is when you get disembodied voices through radio devices. This term should not be mistaken for EVP, Electronic Voice Phenomenon.

THEORY: When using a video camera with an IR Light (infrared) the spirit/ghost may reflect off of the IR light, allowing the video camera to see it, where the naked eye cannot.
HOW WE USE IT: We use video cameras to capture paranormal evidence, for documentation to prove the investigation really happened, and for time stamping a location. The first thing you should do is, remove the lens and turn the camera on to the “record” position. Then do a pre wrap, stating your name, location, date, and time. During the investigation you should always have the camera recording. Never pause the camera during an investigation. Also try and keep the camera steady. If we are at a location where we are able to use a tripod, you should do so. At the end of the investigation, make sure you do a post wrap, stating your name, location, date, time, and if there was any activity or not.
READINGS: When analyzing video footage you want to look for any unusual anomalies or movement. On the cameras that can record sound you also want to look for EVPs. You also want to check the time recorded on the camera for any skips in time in the recording. Make sure that if you find something on video, you log the time it happened and the location.

K-II EMF Meters with built in constant on/off switch EMF meters detect electromagnetic fields.
Theory #1: When a spirit/ghost manifests, it gives off an electromagnetic field, which may be picked up by an EMF meter.
Theory #2: When a spirit/ghost manifests, it needs energy to do so. In an area where there are high EMF fields the spirit/ghost may draw in that high EMF and manifest.
Theory # 3: In theory, a spirit can communicate with you through this meter by lighting up the LED lights. There would be 2 dashes of light if the answer is yes, and 1 dash of light if the answer is no. (This is Chris Flemmings theory on the K-II Meter.)
HOW WE USE IT: Hold the button on the front of the meter. Point the meter away from you, scanning the area for any variations of magnetic fields. If the meter gets a reading, try to locate where the reading is coming from by going over your previous pathway. When the investigation is complete, write down your readings in the field report.
RANGE: The range on this EMF meter is 1mg to 20+mg. The range from the meter to the active field is 0 to 6 feet.
READINGS: The unit of measurement on all EMF meters is milligauss (mg). Normal activity through this meter is 0mg to 2mg. Paranormal activity occurs between 2.5mg to 10mg. Any readings above 10mg is probably non paranormal. There are many things that can throw off EMF readings, such as speakers, electrical wires, television sets, computers, appliances, electrical outlets, romex cable, power lines etc., so be aware of your surroundings. The readings for theory # 2 is that the LED lights will blink twice for yes, and once for no.

FACT: EMF meters detect electromagnetic fields.
THEORY: Theory #1: When a spirit/ghost manifests, it gives off an electromagnetic field, which may be picked up by an EMF meter.
Theory #2: When a spirit/ghost manifests, it needs energy to do so. In an area where there is a high EMF field, the spirit/ghost may draw in that high EMF and manifest.
HOW WE USE IT: The first thing you’re going to do is press the power button, which will turn the meter on. Then press the unit button one time to change the setting to 0.0mg. When the meter is set up, do a walk through of the investigation site and find out if there is anything surrounding the area that could cause an electrical disturbance and throw off the meter. While doing a walk through, get a general base reading of the location. While walking around the site you must hold the meter steadily because too much movement could throw off the reading. If you get an unusual reading, study the area and try to figure out what could be causing it. When the investigation is over, be sure to document your average reading and any unusual readings in the field report.
RANGE: The unit of measurement for this EMF meter is milligaus (mg). The range on the meter is 0mg to 188mg. The range from the meter to the active field is 0 to 8 feet, depending on how strong the electromagnetic field is.
READINGS: Normal readings are from 0mg to 1.5mg. Paranormal readings are from 1.5mg to 8mg. Paranormal activity can occur lower than 1.5mg if the base is low. For example, if you are getting a base reading of .1mg to .3mg, and then the meter jumps to 1.2mg, this may be paranormal activity.
6- Ghost Detector Arrays
(IR) Night Vision Binoculars
FACT: IR Night Vision is used to see better in the dark by amplifying starlight, moonlight, and using an IR beam. IR stands for Infrared.
THEORY: If there is a spirit/ghost present during an investigation, you may see it better through night vision because the IR light may reflect off of the spirit/ghost allowing you to see it.
HOW WE USE IT: The first thing you want to do is make sure that the area you are investigating is completely dark. If the area has a light source present you may not be able to use it because extensive light will damage the optics in the scope. You need to take the lens cap off and turn on the night vision scope as well as the IR light. While investigating you need to scan the area for any anomalies. We also use night vision when we send a person to scout out the area so they can see if there is anything in our pathway.
RANGE: Range from the scope to the active field is 300 feet.
READINGS: While looking through the scope, if you see any unusual activity or movement, it may be paranormal. If you see something that you think is paranormal then you should go to the area with other equipment to investigate it.
We use flashlights for many reasons. One of the reasons is to see where we are going in the dark, and so we can see what the readings are on our equipment. Every group should have at least one flashlight on them. When using a flashlight you should not point it at the lenses of a 35mm camera, digital camera, any of the handheld video cameras, and/or DVR cameras, because it may cause damage to the lens.
