The Cottages were built in the 1950s as the first buildings of what was originally a motel. Richard Grambo’s father purchased the property. Richard is now the current owner. He and his wife Jan, worked to transform the motel into the resort it is today.

Guests at the Lighthouse Oceanfront Resort have reported various paranormal activities in the older Ridge Cottages, with the most common occurrences including furniture moving on its own, electronic disturbances, and disembodied voices. The resort even provides journals in certain rooms (specifically 101 and 105) for guests to document their experiences.
Specific reported paranormal activities include:
- Moving Objects: Guests have returned to their rooms to find the furniture completely rearranged on its own.
- Electronic Disturbances: Televisions are said to turn on and off by themselves, and lights have been known to flicker or turn on and off without explanation.
- Unexplained Sounds: Visitors report hearing unexplained noises, such as tapping sounds, footsteps in empty areas, and knocking on doors.
- Auditory Phenomena: Guests have documented hearing whispering in their ears, often while trying to sleep.
- Physical Phenomena: There are reports of empty rocking chairs moving on their own.
The spirits are generally considered to be “friendly phantoms” or playful, and the resort has embraced this reputation, making the haunted cottages popular among visitors seeking a spooky experience.
